“I thought You Are Beautiful”: Uganda Women Journalists’ Tales of Mob Violence on Social Media

چکیده
This article contributes to our understanding of the notion mob censorship from Ugandan context by examining nature and consequences harassment targeting women journalists on social media. Drawing research about online censorship, we link violence in physical spaces encountered media perspectives journalists. We illustrate that different forms enabled platforms present serious challenges for individual journalists, journalism profession. Our findings suggest attacks reporters include comments denigrate women’s bodies, discredit journalists’ reportage. The compels engage hibernation censorship.
